Skyler married her hubby, Riley, in a beautiful ceremony at St Pauls United Church of Christ!
Skyler’s favorite part of the whole day was during the ceremony…
“My favorite moment of our wedding day was standing at the altar with Riley. I truly felt that it was just him and I in the room. I was purposely focusing on him because I knew if I saw everyone looking at us I would start to get really nervous! It was really enjoyable being so focused on Riley and dedicating ourselves to one another.”

After the happy couple made things official, it was time to celebrate!
The reception was held at the Will County Atrium in Peotone, IL!

How did the newlyweds first meet?
“The short answer- we were set up by a mutual friend couple. The longer answer...Skyler has known and been friends with Dana since they were little. Dana married her high school sweetheart, Wade, who happens to be Riley's best friend. At Dana and Wade's wedding in 2021, Skyler asked Dana and Wade if the best man (Riley) was single. Unfortunately at the time he was not.. but a few months later Dana told Skyler that Riley had become single, they set up a double date, and here we are now!”
How did Riley Pop the question??
“Skyler and Riley decided to take their dog Millie for a walk at the state park. At first Skyler thought this was finally the moment she would be proposed to, but that feeling started to go away after about 4 miles of hiking. Little did she know that Riley was just looking for a more private and less crowded area so he could propose. So after about 4.5 miles of hiking in the July heat, he got down on one knee under a shaded tree!”
How was Skyler’s experience with wedding dress shopping??
“The dress buying experience was great at Something Blue! I had my "dream pinterest dress" on my wedding board but I told myself I would be open to trying on other styles to see how I felt in them. After trying on about 8 different dresses that were in my style range, I found one that was almost perfect. Jamie asked me what would make a dress perfect or "the one" and if I had a picture of my "dream dress". I showed her a picture of it and she said "oh my gosh, we actually have that dress here in the store!". As soon as I tried on the gown I knew it was the one. Sometimes going with your first choice works out!”
What was Skyler’s favorite and least favorite parts of the whole wedding planning process?
“My favorite part of the planning process was building our wedding day off of how our parents did theirs. We had a very traditional wedding ceremony and a nice "home town" wedding reception. It was the perfect balance of traditional and very simple- kind of like how Riley and I are. We have all that we need if we've got our family, friends and God surrounding us!
My least favorite part of planning a wedding is planning the timing of everything! For a day that goes by so quickly, the timing of everything had to be spot on. It's a packed day from sunrise to sunset! Luckily everything went smoothly, we had no mishaps, and it truly was the perfect day!”
What advice does she have for brides who are currently in the throes of wedding planning??“If you are planning your big day, my biggest advice would be booking your main vendors ASAP. Especially if you are getting married in peak wedding season. For the day-of your wedding, take time every so often to take in the moments. Every bride will say this, the day goes by SO FAST, but it truly does! So have your friends or wedding party remind you to take some time, enjoy the day you spend so much time planning, and take in as many moments as you can.”
Congratulations, Skyler & Riley!!
