Introducing our beautiful bride, Makayla!
The sweetest bride ever, Makayla chose an Essense of Australia ballgown that she custom added sleeves to!
The final product was nothing short of stunning!

Makayla married her hubby, Scott, in a beautiful ceremony at their church, Zion Holiness Pentecostal Church in Portage!
“The whole wedding day went by very fast, but my favorite part was walking up the aisle. Since my dad passed before I got married, I walked halfway and my groom met me there to bring me the rest of the way!”

After the lovebirds were officially hitched, it was time to celebrate in the church hall!!

How did Makayla and Scott first meet?
“We met at church and I was enamored with him from the moment I saw him.”
How did Scott pop the question?
“He proposed in front of my painting at a show I was in (I'm an artist).”
Was it a surprise or did Makayla know it was coming?
“It was a surprise. He'd been talking about proposing but in a different way. That day I just thought our families were there to support my artwork so I was very surprised!”
How was Makayla’s dress shopping experience?
“My first time trying on dresses wasn't the best experience. Then I saw Something Blue and thought I'd give them a try and it ended up being the best experience! I felt like I was heard and understood. They weren't just trying to make money off me, they genuinely cared about finding me my perfect dress for my big day!”
How’d she know her dress was “the one”?
“I knew my dress was the one when I didn't even want to take it off! It was hard to decide with so many beautiful options, but this one just felt like 'me'.”
Moving on to wedding planning! What was Makayla’s favorite {& least favorite} part of the process?
“My favorite part of the planning process was actually planning our honeymoon. At some point, everything felt so down to the wire that all I could look forward to was flying off to Disneyland where I could have some fun and all the work would be worth it!
My least favorite part was trying to time everything accordingly myself, because I didn't have a wedding coordinator. Everything ended up working out though!”
Does she have any words of wisdom for brides who are currently in the throes of planning?
“For brides currently planning I have two pieces of advice. Firstly, pace yourself and don't feel like you have to get everything done right away. A wedding, even on a small scale, is a lot of work! Break the work up in chunks and do as much as you can without burning yourself out. Secondly, the price tag of the wedding doesn't matter nearly as much as the foundation you will build your marriage on. Make sure you've found the right one and focus more on each other than on how grand your big day is.”
Congratulations, Makayla & Scott!!
