How did these newlyweds meet?
“Jason (or Giorgi as most people call him, which is his last name) and I met when we were in middle school. We have many or the same friends and had been to lots of get togethers where we were both at not nothing romantic ever came of it. He and I were both in other relationships and timing was just never right for us. We reconnected during covid since most people were only hanging out with close friends.”
How did Jason propose?“Jason, my son, friends and family all came to my work (I work at a daycare) on a half day.”
Was she surprised or did she see it coming?
“The actual day and how it was done was a complete surprise to me. Everyone was in on it except me. We had been dating for over 4 years so I knew it would happen eventually but never thought it would be so soon.”
It was time to find the dress!“My sister in law purchased her dress with you guys and I had gone with her over a year before I had my appointment. When I went with her, I had seen a dress that I LOVED!!!!! So when I got engaged, I made my appointment less than 2 weeks later. I walked in and saw the Maddox by All Who Wonder on a mannequin by the window. I asked if I could try it on, even though I already had the one I wanted in my head. My grandma, mom, aunt, sister and friend came with me and everyone picked a dress or 2 for me to try on. The first dress I tried on was the Maddox and I loved it but since I had my mind set on the other one, I just showed everyone, smiled and moved on to the next one. I tried on 6 dressed and the last one was the one I had come in for. I was SOOOO excited to put it on but once I did, I was so underwhelmed. The gal helping me said she could tell that I looked disappointed but I showed everyone the dress anyway. It was nice and everyone liked it well enough but my face didn't light up. I then went and tried on the first dress, which was the Maddox and my whole face just light up!”
How did Melissa know it was "the one"?
“I knew it was the one when I tried on the one I thought was the one, and it didn't feel right. My dress just made me feel safe and calm, like Jason.”
What was her favorite part of the planning process ?“My favorite part of planning was meeting with the different vendors because they were all my hype people. They were as excited about my big day as I was, maybe even more. When I was nervous or uneasy about something, all the venders' excitement and confidence put me at ease and helped me continue with the planning process without any meltdowns.”
What about her least favorite part?“I did not like budgeting or having so many options for everything. I didn't know the cost of weddings and then having so many options for everything and not knowing what venders to go with was hard. I felt like I was just winging it and hoping for the best, which is why I am so thankful for my venders!”
What was Melissa’s favorite wedding day moment?“My favorite moment was after our first look, as we were walking back up to the building, I noticed my 15 year old son had been sneaking pictures and was standing back watching us. He was so excited and cried after the ceremony (instead of me or Jason).”
What is the best piece of advice she can give brides-to-be who are currently planning their big day?“Look to see who other brides tag in their pictures. I found my photographer and DJ by looking at pictures of the venue that other brides had posted and who they tagged. It helped me get the perfect look for my big day. Also, find venders that are excited for you. My venders made me feel like my wedding was the first one they had ever done and made me feel like a priority, like they had no other events going on in their life and were so hyped for my day. That made a world of difference!”
Congratulations, Melissa & Jason!
