How did Kayla and Josh first meet?

“We met in December of 2019 at a bowling alley after our mutual friends invited us out one night. From the start, we hit it off over our shared love of competition. We’re both very competitive, and it made for an instant connection. After getting to know each other more, we officially started dating on February 1st… and the rest was history.”

How did Josh pop the question?

“We were heading to the lake for the weekend and made a stop at Deep River County Park along the way. We decided to take a walk on a small trail, and in that peaceful, quiet moment... he proposed. It was simple, sweet, and absolutely perfect.”

Was it a surprise or did Kayla know it was coming?

“We had gone ring shopping beforehand just to get a sense of what we both liked, but the timing of the proposal completely caught me off guard! I never imagined it would happen so soon after we browsed rings—it was such a sweet surprise.”

Next thing to say “YES!” to: the dress!

“I probably tried on about 10 dresses in total—each one completely different. But I knew I wanted something with an open back and a fitted silhouette. The stylist helping me actually pulled the dress, and the moment I put it on, I felt like a bride. My mom had also bought her dress from Something Blue Bridal, so I already had my heart set on finding mine there too. In fact, I only scheduled one appointment with Something Blue and never felt the need to go anywhere else!”

How did Kayla know her dress was "the one"?

“As soon as I stepped out and saw the look on my family’s faces, I just knew. The way the dress fit, the stunning open back—everything about it felt like me. What made it even more special was that the dress looked exactly like the inspiration photos I had saved during the planning process… and somehow, it was even better in person. It was one of those moments where everything just clicked.”

What was her favorite part of the wedding planning process?

“Definitely the creative freedom! Getting to design a celebration that truly reflected us as a couple was such a fun and personal experience. I loved picking out the colors, florals, and décor it was like bringing a vision to life. From selecting the perfect shades for the bridesmaids’ dresses to choosing table details and signage, every piece felt intentional and us. It was so rewarding to see it all come together on the big day.”

What about her LEAST favorite part?

“All the questions! Brides tend to be the point person for everything, and while that’s expected, it can feel overwhelming at times. You’re only one person, and everyone looks to you for answers!”

What was Kayla’s favorite moment from her wedding?

“Walking down the aisle and locking eyes with my now-husband was unforgettable. After the ceremony, we took a private moment together to breathe and just soak it all in, that quiet pause meant so much”.

What is the best piece of advice she can give brides-to-be who are currently planning their own big day?

“Try to take it all in and don’t let the little things stress you out. The day is ultimately about the love between you and your partner. Everything else is just extra.”

Congratulations, Kayla & Josh!!
