How did the newlyweds meet?

“A good, old-fashioned dating app!”

How did Troy pop the question?

“We were on a salmon and halibut fishing trip in Alaska with good friends of mine. On the last full day we were there, we had planned to do some hiking. First stop was a waterfall hike in Girdwood, AK. I remember two of my friends telling me that morning they were going to at least blow dry their hair and put on some light makeup since we would "probably snag some photos at the waterfall."  Once we had gotten to the waterfall, Troy was bizarrely enthusiastic about getting down to the water -- he's not big on having his photo taken. We were posing for a picture when I thought he'd slipped in slow motion because it was rainy & slippery. I then realized he had gotten on one knee and was presenting me with a ring.  That was our only hike of the day. We spent the rest of the day doing a robust tour of Anchorage breweries.”

Was it a surprise or did Kristyn have a feeling it was coming?

“We had looked at rings leading up to that so I could figure out what I liked, but the plan was to get engaged in the fall or winter of that year. I was not expecting an early July proposal.”

When she got home from Alaska, it was time for Kristyn to start the search for the perfect gown!

“My mom was buying my dress for me as a wedding gift and I had no desire to maximize the budget she'd given me. There were many dresses I tried on that I thought were beautiful, but I struggled with the price point(s) for a dress I was going to wear for only a day. I also had experiences where I felt like bridal consultants were putting me in their favorite dresses & the dresses they wanted to see me try on rather than listening to the feedback that I was providing them. Something Blue gave the perfect combination of everything I was looking for from a beautiful selection within my desired budget to an incredible consultant in Shannon!”

How did she know her dress was "the one"?

“It was my mom's reaction to the dress, the balance of simple & lace that I had been looking for, and it made me feel absolutely beautiful.”

What was Kristyn’s favorite part of the planning process and why?

“We were engaged for almost two years, so taking the time to decide what we truly wanted was huge! We initially were planning to get married locally in the Salt Lake City, UT area (where we live), but then I came across a photo of this beautiful balcony on the internet. I did a reverse image search on Google and the rest is history. A second favorite thing was having a coordinator to manage all of the vendors for you. I just had to worry about getting information to Eleonora and she would disseminate the information out accordingly.”

Was there any part of planning she didn’t enjoy?

“As amazing as it was to be able to create an event that was tailored to Troy, myself, & our guests, I definitely suffered from decision fatigue after a while.”

Looking back, what was Kristyn’s favorite memory from the wedding?

“After our ceremony and staged photos, our photographer took Troy and I down to the beach and through the town of Positano. Even though we had Viviana with us, it was really awesome being able to have some focused time on one another before our dinner/reception.”

Does she have any advice for brides-to-be who are currently planning their own big day?

“While I would say don't stress at all, having recently been a bride, I know that's not realistic. So I'll modify that -- only stress about the things you have control over. You can't control the caterer accidentally bringing salmon instead of tilapia or the florists shipment roses being more orange than peach. Focus on what you can control and just enjoy your day no matter what.”

Solid advice!!

Congratulations, Kristyn & Troy!
