Introducing our beautiful bride, Melissa!
For her fall wedding, Melissa visited our store Curve by Something Blue where she chose a fitted, boho lace gown by All Who Wander!
We love the unique lace over the darker underlay!

Melissa’s flowers were a fall dream come true, all thanks to In Bloom out of Valparaiso!
The colors were perfect!

Melissa married the love of her life, Paul, at Butterfield Pavilion in Valparaiso!

The reception, also at Butterfield Pavilion, was beautiful!
The tables were adorned with beautiful florals and candles and guests were treated to a yummy dessert table after dinner!

How did you Melissa and Paul first meet?
“A mutual friend introduced us. She is the one Paul, and I are kissing in a couple photos.”
How did Paul pop the question?
“A dessert, dessert plate and Paul on his knee at Lucrezia's in Crown Point, January 9, 2024.”
Was it a surprise or did Melissa know it was coming?
“I knew it was going to be happening, and I did think it was going to be that night. It was our second anniversary
of our first date. As dinner went on, I didn't think it was going to happen. When Paul went to the restroom, I texted my mom letting her know I didn't think it was going to happen that night.”
After the proposal, it was time to find her dream dress!
How did Melissa know her dress was "the one"?
“I didn't want a dress that was a traditional white, beaded and bedazzled looking dress. More of a party dress. I knew it was 'the one' when I had it on and didn't feel like a traditional dress to me. The neckline, bodice drew me in, buttons down the back, and open back.”
What was her favorite part of the planning process?
“My favorite part was pulling together a color scheme, theme and vibe for the wedding. I wanted a Ralph Lauren feel to the wedding and tried to accomplish that by having Paul and the wedding party in denim. I loved figuring out what I was going to have them all wear. Changing my mind happens quite often. I warned the coordinator of that at our first meeting. My initial color scheme was white and gold and I changed that to fall colors. I am so happy I went with fall colors. The room was beautiful.”
What about her least favorite part??
“The seating arrangement. I had a few guests that did not want to be seated by certain people for one reason or another.”
Looking back, what is Melissa’s favorite memory from her wedding?
“I would say standing in front of our friends and family reading my vows and sharing the love that I have for Paul.”
What is the best piece of advice Melissa can give brides-to-be who are currently planning their own big day?
“Do not sweat the little stuff. More than likely your guests are not going to know if something is not as you planned or hoped. I know we want a perfect day, but something is bound to happen that is not going to be that big of a deal. I stressed over creased table clothes for no reason.”
Congratulations, Melissa + Paul!!
