How did the newlyweds meet?
“We met through the dating app Hinge. Our first date was at Zig-E’s in St. John.”

How did Mark propose?
“On October 18, Mark planned a date night in Chicago. It didn’t seem out of the norm since we often go on nice date nights. First, we went to dinner at Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab. After dinner, we went to Upstairs at The Gwen for drinks, and he proposed to me at the same place where he asked me to be his girlfriend a year prior.”

Did Jada see it coming or was she surprised?
“Overall, it was a surprise, but I did have a feeling it was coming. On our car ride to Chicago, he seemed nervous. Our new joke is that he was acting "upside down."

Jada secured the ring, now it’s time to find her dress!

“Since our wedding was scheduled for June 15th, I knew I had to get the ball rolling quickly. I already had a pretty good idea of the style of dress I wanted, so after he proposed, I started browsing wedding dresses on Instagram and TikTok. That’s when I came across the Instagram pages for Something Blue and The One. Once I saw how beautiful and affordable the dresses at The One were, I immediately scheduled an appointment.”

How did Jada know her dress was "the one"?
“My mom, sister, two best friends, and 20-month-old goddaughter came with me. Originally, we planned to just look and not buy anything that day, but when I tried on this specific dress, I knew it was the one. When I came out of the fitting room, my loved ones were in awe. My goddaughter had said "no" to all the previous dresses, but when I walked out in this one, she just smiled and giggled. We still went to one other shop to see if any other dresses compared, but nothing matched the one I found at The One boutique.”

What was Jada’s favorite part of the planning process and why?
“My favorite part was the ease of planning a destination wedding. I am naturally an anxious person and get overwhelmed easily, so being able to easily select everything I wanted from the resort made the process calming and exciting. My absolute favorite part was choosing the music for our ceremony and first dance.”

What was Jada’s least favorite part and why?
“My least favorite part was realizing that not all of our loved ones would be able to make it. We had an 80-person wedding package in the Dominican Republic. We both have large families and many friends who wanted to celebrate with us, but not everyone could travel.”

What Jada’s favorite moment of her wedding?
“My favorite moment was right after our first dance. All the anxiety and stress about mastering the dance, saying our vows properly, and worrying about tripping down the aisle completely floated away. We were finally able to just enjoy each other and our guests, and dance the night away.”

What is the best piece of advice you can give brides-to-be who are currently planning their big day?
“Wedding planning can be emotionally taxing. Try your best to stay true to yourself and keep you and your partner at the center of all decision-making. Most importantly, have fun!”

Congratulations Jada and Mark!
