How did the newlyweds first meet?
“Jon and I met on Bumble at the end of April 2022. I initiated the conversation by asking him if there was anything he'd love to learn how to do and he responded with a list of like 10 things! We had our first date on May 1st at Inman's in Valparaiso where we played a couple games of bowling and pool bonding over our love of our dogs and live music, especially pop punk music. Our first date was eight hours long and I ended up meeting his dog, Toby. We talked about getting married that first night and I went home and told my mom I met my future husband.
We actually moved in together 30 days after our first date!”
How did Jon propose?
“On our second date we introduced my dog, Rex, and his dog, Toby together by going to Porter Beach at sunset. This quickly became one of our favorite activities together and we go all the time. On a random Wednesday night at the end of September 2024 the weather was gorgeous and I said we should take the boys to the beach for sunset. I was taking pictures of the skyline completely unaware of Jon who was on one knee behind me.
I turned around and was sooo shocked! I think I blacked out a little bit because I just kept repeating, "what?? "Are you serious?" over and over again. I couldn't believe what was happening.
Then 30 seconds later our dogs tried starting a dog fight with another dog walking by.
It was definitely a memorable moment that we laugh about often.”
Was it a surprise or did Paige know it was coming"?
“I knew we were going to be getting engaged soon as we designed my ring together and I knew he had it in his possession but I did not know when it was going to happen. I thought I would know because I am very intuitive, but he definitely caught me off guard.”
How was Paige’s dress buying experience?
“I was soo nervous about going dress shopping. I generally don't like shopping and being plus size I didn't want to try on dresses that just didn't fit at all. I know shops say they have tricks for making them look good, but I knew that experience was going to leave me feeling depleted and disappointed. When I found Curve I was super excited, but still nervous to try on dresses in front of people (including those who are known to be very opinionated). The second I walked into the boutique and met Shannon I was put to ease. I loved being able to pick out dresses in their showroom and there were so many options.
Shannon made the whole process so easy and was genuinely such a fun time. I never felt rushed or pressured into anything that didn't feel right. I tried on close to twenty-five dresses and narrowed it down to three favorites.
Before arriving I was convinced I was not going to be able to make a decision with my group of 6 girls there, but I left that day with my dress ordered.”
How did Paige know her dress was "the one"?
“Like I mentioned, I narrowed down the dresses I loved to three final dresses and at the end of the appointment I wanted to try them all on again and was going to see what they looked like with a veil on to see the whole picture, but when I went back to the first two that I had tried on much earlier in the appointment they just didn't get the same reaction from me or my group anymore. The second I put my dress back on I just felt so comfortable and beautiful. When the curtain was pulled back my whole group agreed that it was the perfect dress for me.
I still love my dress and couldn't imagine picking another one.”
What was Paige’s favorite part of the planning process ?
“I generally enjoy planning parties and love seeing them all come together. Jon and I did a lot of DIY projects in our basement and garage and I loved doing them together. I would say that was my favorite part.”
What about Paige’s least favorite part ?
“I had a couple least favorite parts.
In the beginning of wedding planning I hated reaching out to sooo many vendors and just not getting responses. It was really stressful as we got engaged and married in 12 months.
Then during the last month I hated having to answer questions I had already answered over and over again.”
What was the newlyweds favorite moment of the wedding?
“Our wedding day had so many hiccups and things that did not go as planned, but the very best part of the day was standing at the altar with my husband sharing our vows in front of so many of our favorite people. It was such a special moment and was truly something I had been looking forward to since the day we met.”
Does Paige have any words of wisdom for brides who are currently planning?
“My biggest advice is to do what you want. There are so many people who will have opinions about what you should do or who you should hire. Social media influencing is at an all time high that it is so easy to get sucked into what is trending. I suggest taking a step back and let the day reflect you and your partner.
Also, hire the day of coordinator. Lol “
Congratulations, Paige & Jon!!
