How did Sarah and JB guys meet?
“We met on a dating app! Sarah had stopped checking messages and JB messaged a couple times to get her attention! They then exchanged phone numbers and had some of the best conversations they have ever had. They went on their first date at the Indianapolis canal. JB asked Sarah to be his girlfriend on the second date:)”
How did JB propose to?
“JB took Sarah to their favorite restaurant in Indianapolis, Ambrosia, for their two year anniversary. After the dinner, he took her to a park where they had gone on one of their first dates and surprised Sarah. He had had his friends set up roses and candles. He used a turtle box to hold the ring in for the proposal!”
Was Sarah Surprised or did she know it was coming?”
‘I knew that JB was planning to propose but I thought that he would think I would think that it was too obvious that he would do it on our 2 year anniversary, so it was definitely a surprise for me!”
How was Sarah’s shopping experience?
“It was PERFECT. My best friend got her wedding dress from Something Blue and it was gorgeous! When JB had proposed to me, I had to graduate from medical school that Friday and then move to a completely new city that Monday, so my brain felt pulled all over the place. Being a fiance and planning a wedding didn't feel like it was possible. I went up to visit my family and decided to go to Something Blue just to try to get myself in the wedding planning spirit. I had zero intention of buying a dress that day. It was very easy to schedule an appointment! I went with my mom, my two good friends and their mom. It was very fun going around and picking out different dresses to try on. I had no idea of what style I wanted. Every single dress I tried on was amazing!!! Something Blue has such good selection and the staff were so helpful. I did end up finding my dress on the first dress shopping experience to my shock. It was the first thing I did to start planning my wedding and it got the ball rolling.”
How did Sarah know her dress was "the one"?
“I tried on a good amount of dresses that I liked a lot at Something Blue, but when I put on my dress, I felt different. After I took that one off and tried on different ones, I couldn't get that one out of my mind. I was obsessed with the thought of putting it back on.”
What was Sarah’s favorite part of the planning process?
“My favorite part was the dress alterations! I found an amazing person, Amy Perry, who does dress alterations in Versailles Kentucky. She is a magician and made my dress fit like a glove!! I always had so much fun going to her house and joking around.”
What was Sarah’s least favorite part?
“My least favorite part was all of the unexpected things that happened the week of the wedding. I was lucky I had such an amazing bridal party and family to jump in and help with whatever was needed! Looking back, the roadblocks gave everyone a bonding opportunity and my guests a moment to feel like they also had a big hand in creating the magic for the wedding.”
What was your favorite moment of your wedding?
“This is so hard for me because every moment was so amazing in its own way. If I had to pick, I would say when a sun shower occurred when we were all eating in the green house of the venue and then rainbows appeared afterwards! Our wedding was rainbow themed so it felt like the universe was winking at us. My husband's grandmother also unfortunately passed away on the wedding day, but the rainbow felt like her way of visiting us.”
What is the best piece of advice you can give brides-to-be who are currently planning their big day?
“Things might feel like they aren't going perfectly but in the end, if you are a good person with good intentions then things usually fall perfectly into place. The day of the wedding I was spiraling about predicted thunderstorms all day, and the day of the wedding it did rain but we got a rainbow! Don't lose sight of the fact that you are planning this day to focus on your forever person<3”
Congratulations, Sarah & JB!
