Oh this bride! Oh this GOWN!

We are so excited to introduce you to our beautiful bride, Meghan!

For her early summer wedding, Meghan looked incredible in a fitted gown by Essense of Australia!

Our favorite part of the gown? The skirt of course!! Those ruffles are everything!

Meghan accessorized with Heirloom Bridal earrings, Luna + Stone necklace and a Bel Aire veil!

Meghan married her hubby, Colby, in the outdoor space at Aberdeen Manor & Ballroom in Valparaiso!

“My favorite moment of the day was when I walked down the aisle and saw my husband's big smile on his face. I was excited for him to see me in my dress. Everyone told me all night that is the biggest smile they have seen on his face.”

After the ceremony, it was time to celebrate!

How did the newlyweds first meet?

“February 2020 both of our parents decided to sell their homes after 25 years. Both parents moved into the same neighborhood just a few doors down. March 2020 COVID hit and I was living in Indianapolis and Colby was in Bloomington. We were both forced to move home due to the pandemic. Colby's mom went on a walk in the neighborhood and my dad was outside doing yard work. She stopped by to introduce herself since she was new to the neighborhood. They got to talking and my dad had mentioned he had a 24 year old daughter that had to move home and was miserable. Colby's mom then stated she also had a 24 year old son that had to move home and was miserable. My dad told me the conversation and my eyes lit up. I had every intention to move back to Indianapolis, but something was telling me to try and get this guy's contact information. I looked on social media and requested to follow him on Instagram. I waited about a week and he still had not accepted the request so I unrequested it thinking maybe he thought I was creepy. I saw him outside as I was leaving for an appointment and immediately knew I had to get to know him. I went back to Instagram and saw we had a mutual friend. I texted the mutual friend the story and he said let me see what I can do. A few hours later this mutual friend texted me and said "Don't say I never did anything for you." along with Colby's number. I texted Colby and the rest is history.”

How did Colby pop the question?

“We decided to go to Chicago for a night for our 4th anniversary. I woke up not feeling great and Colby told me I HAD to feel better. I was like ok weird, but probably nerves because I thought maybe this is the weekend I get engaged. We got ready that morning and I was in our kitchen gathering my purse and I went to say something to him. I turned around and he was on one knee in our living room. I froze and didn't think it was real. He wanted to get engaged in Chicago but was nervous he would lose the ring. Plus he wanted me to wear the ring all day!”

Was it a surprise or did Meghan know it was coming?

“The proposal was definitely a surprise. I thought that morning that MAYBE it could happen but was not getting my hopes up. I told him whenever he proposed I wanted to be caught off guard and surprised and he definitely did just that.”

After that, it was time to find her gown!

“Buying my dress was easy. I had a few people buy their dress from Something Blue and I knew that was the only place I wanted to go whenever it was my time. The girls were amazing. I went in with a few ideas and 1 dress specifically in mind. I didn't want to go to any other place. I was determined to find my dress. Shannon was incredible the entire time. I told her I was nervous and that I wouldn't know when it was "the one." She validated me and said I would know and that some girls don't cry and some do. She did not make me feel rushed or pressured in buying and I loved that as it is a big expense. She knew exactly what I was looking for style wise and brought out similar dresses to compare.”

How did Meghan know her dress was "the one"?

“It was the first dress I tried on. I tried on about 10 different dresses with different cuts and styles. I continued to go back to the first dress (the one I found online). I was stuck between 2 dresses. They put a veil on me and gave me fake flowers to hold so I could see what I would look like. I finally put the first dress back on and stood in the mirror. I instantly started to cry and I knew it was the one!”

What was her favorite (& least fave} part of the wedding planning process?

“My favorite part was choosing my colors and of course working with our venue. They made it SO incredibly easy and stress free. I have a background in event planning which made it easy to begin with, but working with our venue was so fun!

My least favorite part was the seating chart. We had about 200 people and figuring out where to seat everyone was hard.”

What is the best piece of advice Meghan can give brides-to-be who are currently planning their big day?

“Enjoy it. Relax. It will go by faster than you think. It sounds cliche, but it's true. I feel like I spent so much time planning and the day was here and gone in a second. Enjoy the planning, even during the stressful moments because you won't get that back. Also take time for yourself. If you need a break, take a break. Do not burn yourself out. And ask for help! I kept my circle small with who I told details to, but those few people will help if you need it. You shouldn't do everything by yourself. (Shout out to my husband for helping the entire time!!)”

Congratulations, Meghan and Colby!!!
