Guuuyyysssss we can’t handle how gorgeous our brides are!!

Meet the lovely Alexis!

Alexis chose a stunning Martina Liana ballgown for her big day at the orchard and OH MY GOSH she looks perfect!

A gown so beautiful even the flower girl wanted to play dress up while they got ready…

Alexis decided to work with Kris from Sugarfield Flowers to create all of her gorgeous arrangements and clearly it was a great decision!

We always highly recommend {and even partner with} Kris when girls are looking for a florist!

Alexis married her hubby Michael at County Line Orchard!

They chose the big Oak tree for their ceremony location - clearly a fab decision!

After the ceremony, guests and the couple were taken back to the big barn for the reception!

Our favorite parts? The donut cake and after hours Crave Cases, of course!

Everyone always says they want to wear their dress again after their wedding and Alexis made it happen!

Her family threw a wedding themed party and everyone put on their wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses to celebrate!

We could not love this idea anymore!

How fun is that?!

Let’s get to know the newlyweds a little better…how did they meet?

“Michael and I met in our high school art class. We flirted with each other often, texted each other all night almost every night, but I had to play it cool because I was two years older him. I was a junior in high school and he was a freshman, so I just wasn't ready to claim the "cougar " title yet (haha eyeroll). Months went by and whenever we passed each other in the hall we would smile and say hi then just go about our day. Finally, around Valentine's Day, I walked up to him with two candy hearts that said, "you're cute" and "call me". Thankfully, he called me and nine years later we are still going strong! I proudly claim the cougar title now!”

That is adorable! How did Michael propose?

“The night he proposed we were supposed to go to the city for dinner. I was in grad school at the time and he was working long hours so we both agreed we needed a nice date night. That night ended up being a huge snow storm so we stayed close and went out to eat at Stacks restaurant in Valpo. We had a very yummy dinner, some drinks, and headed back to the car. As we approached the car I remember him staying on the passenger side and I said, "Oh fancy, you are opening the car door for me?" He said, "No, but I have a question for you." He then got down on one knee, said a bunch of really loving sweet things (that I don't really remember because I started sobbing and basically blacked out), and asked me to be his wife. My initial response was, "Did you ask my dad?" because that has always been my one rule. He did! It was so intimate and perfect. It was snowing, no one was around, and it was just him and I together. When we finally got into the car, I had to facetime my mom, sister, best friends, and every person in my phone book. He took me to a bar down the street that had our friends and his sister to help us celebrate the rest of the night!!”

Was it a surprise??

“Kinda. I knew he had the ring. My mom works at a jewelry store and the ring I always loved was gone. The employees at the store played it off well saying an older man had bought the ring and assured me and my mom that it wasn't Michael. I ended up finding out he had the ring, but he held on to the ring for a loooooonnnnggggg time! So at that point I just figured either he didn't actually have the ring or it was never happening. My one rule was he had to ask my dad before proposing, so he was waiting for the best time to talk to my dad then ask. So, the night he proposed I was 100% surprised and totally was not expecting it. That made it even more special!"

Let’s talk dresses!

“I LOVED everything about dress shopping. I only went to two places. Obviously Something Blue was a game changer. I tried on all different styles of dresses and narrowed down an idea of what I liked. SBB posted a picture of a Wedding Gown Wednesday dress and it was gorgeous and exactly what I wanted. My sister also sent me a picture of it which validated that I needed to try it on. I called and Something Blue told me it was a trial line and would only be in the store until the end of the month. My sister and I went that night, tried it on, and fell in love all over again. We made an appointment that following weekend so my mom and basically my whole family and soon to be in laws could also come see! I cried, they cried, and I never wanted to take it off. It was so perfect! The ladies at Something Blue were equally as great! They made me feel like I was the most beautiful human showering me with compliments haha. They jazzed me up with a veil, jewelry, and flowers and it just further confirmed that that dress was the one! I tried on a few other dresses also just to make sure but nothing compared to my dress. I Never wanted to take it off. We popped champagne and I said yes!!"

After saying yes to her dress, it was time to plan the big day! What was Alexis’ favorite part of the planning process?

“Everything! I thought planning the wedding was so fun! It gave me every reason to see all my favorite people over and over and over again! Asking our bridal party was one of my most favorite parts. It was so fun to see their reaction and just get excited! Obviously dress shopping, the shower, and bachelorette party were up there also!”

What about her least favorite part?

“My least favorite part was inputting RSVPs into the excel sheet. I did something wrong and only thought we had like 60 people that said yes out of 330. I was stressed haha. Clearly, I just don’t know how to input data because there was a lot more! And probably thank you cards. I’m super thankful but writing nonstop is brutal."

After all that planning, the wedding day had finally arrived! What was Alexis’ favorite moment from her big day?

“There are so many! The whole day was a dream. There was so much love and happiness surrounding me all day that I was just on cloud nine! I probably have two favorites. The first one: At County Line, they shuttle people to the ceremony spot via tractor. The last tractor was just my dad and I. That was so special to just sit and talk with my dad and share that special moment between he and I. Second: Walking down the aisle and seeing Michael! All day I was so excited to see him and that moment when I finally saw him was such an indescribable feeling. Then obviously never leaving the dance floor!”

Looking back, does Alexis have any takeaways from the entire planning process?

“Book everything early! I quickly realized that brides are so on top of life, and I needed to be also. We were engaged for a year and a half. It was so nice to not have the stress and anxiety of needing to do things ASAP. It spread the chaos out and gave us time to enjoy every step of the way.

Also, enjoy it! Truly enjoy this time. Lots of emotions happen during wedding planning but ultimately it will be your first best day ever as husband and wife. Nothing can take away from that! Don’t stress the small stuff, ask for help, and soak it all in. It’s one of the few times in your life where everyone in your life is celebrating your love!"

What is the best piece of advice Alexis has for brides-to-be who are currently planning their own big day?

“Spend your money on experiences...things that people remember! No one, except you and a few others, will remember your centerpieces, chairs, or lighting. People remember the fun! We had an awesome dj that kept the dance floor hopping, a popcorn table of 8 different kinds of popcorn, county line donuts, White Castle, and photo booth! Everyone still comments on those things. They are memorable and enhance everyone’s experience! Let people help you throughout the process! I couldn’t of done anything without my mom, sister, in laws, friends, and family! Everyone has good ideas to enhance the day and experience!

Also, take one second and look around. Take in all the people that are there celebrating your love. Remember that feeling. That’s a once in a lifetime moment. The day is over in a blink of an eye but that feeling of cherishing the people and atmosphere in that second will last a lifetime!”

Congratulations, Alexis and Michael!! We are so happy for you both and wish you a lifetime of wedded bliss!
