SO pretty!

You know what else is pretty? Angela’s flowers, which were perfect for her summer barn wedding!

Lake Effect Florals did such an amazing job creating her bridal bouquet, with a simple but beautiful boutonniere for the groom!

Angela married her husband Eric at the Red Barn Experience in La Porte.

This venue is ideal for anyone looking for a barn wedding with more of an outdoor, open air feel! The ceremony site is so beautiful, with a natural wood arch for the couple to get married under.

Angela and Eric are proud Jeep owners and wanted to include that in their special day. Their Wrangler was parked at the venue and they had their ring bearer deliver their wedding bands via a mini Jeep! So cute!

With her mom on one arm and her step father on the other, Angela was walked down the aisle and given away to the man of her dreams…

After the ceremony, guests headed into the barn for a night of dinner {BBQ - yum!}, dancing and celebrating the newlyweds!

Bags of popcorn, Designer Desserts cupcakes and a s’mores station {complete with fire pit} were available to satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth!

Something about string lights throughout a barn gives us all the feels!

We’ve seen their wedding, let’s get to know the newlyweds!

How did they meet?

“Eric and I met through boating on Lake Michigan. He had went out on his boat and I was out on a friend’s boat.”

So fun! After falling in love, it was time for the next step! Eric decided to pop the question when the couple went out of town…

“I was proposed to in front of a Waterfall (Bald River Falls) in Tennessee. It was a total surprise! My family lives in Tennessee, so we visit often, but with this visit he had invited his two brothers, nephew, and sister in law. It was perfect!”

When they returned home from their trip, it was time to start planning! First step: the dress!

“My dress buying experience was pretty easy. I visited Something Blue along with 2 others, but I knew my dress was at SBB. Everyone there was amazing, friendly, and made me feel comfortable. I knew my dress was the one when I teared up.”

Yay! We love hearing that! After finding the dress, it was time for the rest of wedding planning. What was Angela’s favorite part of the planning process?

“My favorite part was the venue. We knew we wanted the country rustic feel. Picking out all the decor was exciting.”

What about her least favorite part?

“Picking out table linens. The companies I dealt with were such a chore that I had no interest in picking out linens. I knew what I wanted and felt it was impossible to get questions answered or find what I wanted, so I took matters into my own hands and bought all the linens and runners. In the end it was the best decision I could have made. I got what I wanted and saved money.”

Yes girl! We love when a bride takes control and gets things done! It’s amazing how much more cost effective DIY can really be!

When the wedding day arrived, Angela’s favorite moment happened during the ceremony…

“My favorite was walking through the wooden doors and seeing Eric for the first time. The look on his face and the slight tears in his eyes were priceless.”

Now that the wedding is over, what is Angela’s biggest takeaway from the whole planning process?

“Just go with it. It's not worth all the stress that happens when planning a wedding. Don't get me wrong I had some stressful moments, but I remained pretty calm and realized that you can’t control everything.  It's our day and its about what makes Eric and I happy.”

Any final advice for current brides-to-be?

“My best advice to give is to do your research and work with vendors you’re comfortable with. I am so thankful that all vendors I used were prompt at getting back to me and helped make my day perfect. I would also say to start planning early because your day will be here before you know. I procrastinated a bit after we got engaged and we ended up waiting 2 1/2 years to get married because we wanted The Red Barn Experience and they were booked at least a year out.”

Congratulations Angela and Eric!! Thank you so so much for sharing your beautiful wedding with us!
