Jennifer and her new hubby Jimmy were married in May at the beautiful First Church PCA in Lansing, IL.

She wore a beautiful Stella York gown from SBB and truly made it her own by adding straps as well as some material to the sweetheart neckline. By the end it was a one-of-a-kind creation! A perfect addition to her wedding dress was a matching necklace handmade by her sister and maid-of-honor that draped down her back!

A gorgeous reception followed the ceremony at Cloister in the Woods in Munster, IN! Jennifer incorporated lots of bright color throughout the venue and it definitely paid off! LOVING the colorful lanterns they hung from the ceiling!

Let's get to know this happy couple a little better! I'll let the bride tell you all about how they met...

"Jimmy and I met online through the website Christian Mingle. Our first date was the "halfway" point in Glenview, IL, between our two houses, him in Beach Park, IL, up near the Wisconsin border, and me in Munster, IN. The joke was on me because Jimmy wanted to see if I was serious in dating him and would actually drive almost an hour-and-a half to meet him on our first date when he only had to drive about half-an-hour. We ate at a nice restaurant and took a stroll through some beautiful gardens, sat on a swing bench under the stars and talked for hours. He asked me to be his girlfriend on that first date, and I gladly said yes!"

SO CUTE! We love a good first date story! After a year and a half of dating, Jimmy was ready to give Jennifer the surprise of her life.

"Jimmy took me back to the same spot to re-create our first date. We had been planning on doing this for awhile as something fun to do. I knew we were serious, and I knew he was going to propose soon, but I didn't know when. Though the original restaurant we ate at was closed, we chose a nice restaurant nearby to have dinner and then strolled through the same beautiful gardens and sat on a swing bench, where we chatted for a few minutes. Then Jimmy got down on one knee, pulled out a diamond ring, and asked me to be his wife!"

"I gladly said yes! It was such a surprise! I had no idea it was coming! Little did I know, my little sister, who is an amateur photographer, was taking pictures with her professional camera of us getting engaged, while dressed as a bearded man with glasses so I wouldn't know it was her."

"I was so surprised because she looked like a man. I had no idea it was her. Our friends and my sister's boyfriend were also involved, secretly recording us getting engaged. We all ate ice cream nearby to celebrate, and then I broke the news to my closest family and friends and had a celebratory dinner with Jimmy's family."

Ok, we definitely cracked up when we saw the pic of Jennifer's sister incognito! SO funny!

Jennifer didn't waste any time planning their special day..

"We started right away and booked many of our vendors within weeks of getting engaged, so we were really on top of it. My favorite overall part of wedding planning was seeing everything come together piece by piece towards the one goal of having a wonderful wedding day. I loved the enthusiasm the vendors had towards us getting married. As far as specifics, finding my wedding gown at Something Blue Bridal was my favorite actual part of wedding planning. It was the first time I ever felt like a real princess, and I felt as if you were truly there to help make me look and feel my best on my big day. Thank you, Something Blue Bridal!"

No, thank YOU Jennifer! We loved having you as a bride! But let's keep it real, not every part of the wedding planning process is fun..

"My least favorite part of the wedding planning process was basically how drawn out it can get, especially since we were engaged for 13 months and got so much done so quick, took several months off from planning, and then resumed it full force once the wedding was closer. By the end, I was getting tired of meetings for this and that - I just wanted to be married already!"

Finally, the big day had arrived and Jennifer was quick to point out what she loved the most about her wedding day:

"My favorite moment of my wedding was dancing with my husband at our first dance and dancing with my Dad in our father-daughter dance. I did a voice over message to my Dad that played during our dance, which brought many to tears, and Jimmy did a voice over message to his Mom that played during the mother-son dance."

What a sweet idea!! I'm sure there wasn't a dry eye in the room. Jennifer has some great advice for brides-to-be who are just starting their planning:

"Don't stress out too much because it will all come together on the big day! Enjoy the process with your fiancé because it is meant to be fun! Do your research, and start planning early to get the vendors you want. Talk to other people you know who recently got married or even vendors, and they can recommend vendors to you if you do not know where to start. The wedding day goes by so fast, so enjoy it as much as you can! Enjoy all the effort and time you put into your special day! No one will know this was supposed to be there or how you wanted every little piece to come together, only you, so embrace it if everything isn't your definition of perfect and enjoy your big day while you have your closest family and friends together in one place!"

Thank you SO much to Jennifer and Jimmy for letting us feature your gorgeous wedding day! We wish you both nothing but happiness and love in your new life together! You can check out more pictures in the gallery below! {Photo by: Daniel Rodrigues-Martin Photography}
